Dr. Idowu Oluwatope is a Lecturer in the Department of Medicinal and Organic Chemistry, College of Sciences, University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo, Ondo State, Nigeria. He obtained his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Chemistry in 2011 and Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Chemistry in 2018 from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. He subsequently earned his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemistry, with research specializing in medicinal chemistry, particularly malaria drug research and development. Dr. Idowu's research focuses on the design, synthesis, and development of novel antimalarial drug candidates through medicinal and organic chemistry approaches. His work is driven by a commitment to discovering affordable and effective therapeutic agents for malaria and other diseases of public health importance. He has published in reputable international journals and continues to contribute to advancing pharmaceutical and medicinal chemistry research. Beyond research, Dr. Idowu is passionate about mentoring young scientists and fostering scientific innovation that will contribute to Africa's industrial, healthcare, and technological advancement. He has served in various leadership capacities across academic, religious, and social organizations, demonstrating a strong commitment to service and community development. Outside academia, Dr. Idowu enjoys music and the arts. He is happily married to Dr(Mrs) Patience Idowu, and their union is blessed with children.
